Black Friday 2026: The Tool and Gear Deals Working Dads Actually Buy (Verified Oct 27)

Affiliate disclosure: Some links in this article are affiliate links. If you buy through them, Second Shift Dad may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is how this site pays its hosting bill. It never changes which deals make the list: every deal below was checked by hand, and the deals that failed the check are named at the bottom of this page.

How we checked (read this before you trust any Black Friday list)

On October 27, 2026, we opened each retailer’s own product or promotions page and wrote down two numbers: the price you pay and the regular price the retailer lists next to it. Then we did the math ourselves. If the percentage did not check out, if the “sale” price was the everyday price wearing a red tag, or if we could not confirm both numbers on the retailer’s own page, the deal did not run. Two of the biggest names in tools failed that test today, not because their deals are bad, but because we could not verify them. We would rather post eight deals we checked than eighty we copied.

Prices change fast this time of year. Every price below was live on Oct 27, 2026. If a price has moved when you click, that is the retailer, not a bait and switch from us, and the comments are open for price reports.

Power tool combo kits (Acme Tools)

1. DEWALT 20V MAX Brushless 2-Tool Combo Kit (DCK251E1QQ1) — Acme Tools

  • Sale price: $299.00 | Regular price: $369.00 | You save $70.00 (19%)
  • The drill/driver and impact driver pair most dads actually need, on the 20V MAX platform with room to grow. Suits: the dad building his first real cordless setup, or replacing a tired big-box kit before winter projects.

2. DEWALT 20V MAX Brushless 3-Tool Combo Kit (DCK379D2) — Acme Tools

  • Sale price: $298.92 | Regular price: $359.00 | You save $60.08 (17%)
  • One more tool than the kit above for effectively the same sale price, which makes it the value pick of this list if the third tool is one you will use. Suits: weekend project dads who want one purchase to cover the season.

3. DEWALT 20V MAX 10-Tool Combo Kit (DCK1021D2) — Acme Tools (clearance)

  • Sale price: $954.92 | Regular price: $1,099.00 | You save $144.08 (13%)
  • The whole-platform buy. Thirteen percent is not the deepest cut on this page, but $144 off a ten-tool kit is real money, and clearance pricing usually does not survive Black Friday week. Suits: the dad going all-in on one battery platform for the shop, or a tradesman restocking a crew.

4. DEWALT 20V MAX 3-Tool Combo Lithium Ion Kit (DCK340C2) — Acme Tools

  • Sale price: $269.92 | Regular price: $299.99 | You save $30.07 (10%)
  • The lowest entry price on this list for a name-brand three-tool kit. Suits: the dad who needs solid tools now and would rather keep the difference in the grocery budget.

5. DEWALT 20V MAX 4-Tool Combo Kit (DCK445D1M1) — Acme Tools

  • Sale price: $369.92 | Regular price: $399.00 | You save $29.08 (7%)
  • Seven percent is honest but thin, and we are listing it with that warning attached: it is a fair price, not a doorbuster. Suits: dads who specifically want this four-tool mix and were buying it anyway.

Stock note: Acme’s combo-kit page showed limited availability flags on several kits when we checked. Confirm stock on the product page before you plan a trip around one of these.

Sitewide promo worth stacking

6. Tool Nut: $20 off Milwaukee orders over $150

  • The deal: Tool Nut’s live product pages are running an exclusive flash sale: $20 off Milwaukee orders over $150, some exclusions, limited time.
  • There is no inflated list price to decode here, it is a straight cart-level discount, which is exactly the kind we like. Suits: any dad already running Milwaukee who needs batteries, blades, or one more bare tool. Put the tool you were buying anyway in the cart and take the twenty.

Grills and backyard (BBQGuys)

7. Free Weber Connect Smart Hub + Case with ANY Weber grill — BBQGuys

  • The deal: Buy any Weber grill at BBQGuys and the Weber Connect Smart Hub plus travel and storage case (a $179 value, per BBQGuys) is free. Offer listed as running through Oct 31, 2026.
  • A smart hub is the wireless thermometer brain that lets you watch a brisket from the couch, the bleachers, or the second shift. Suits: the dad whose Weber is due for replacement this year. Buy the grill you were already buying and take the $179 add-on free instead of paying for it in December.

8. Save 15% on select Napoleon grills and cookware — BBQGuys

  • The deal: BBQGuys’ promotions page lists 15% off select Napoleon grills and cookware, live when we checked on Oct 27, 2026.
  • Napoleon is the Weber alternative a lot of working dads cross-shop, and 15% on a grill is hundreds of dollars, not a coupon-code rounding error. Suits: the dad pricing a mid-range gas grill before the holidays. Check the specific model on the promotions page, because “select” is doing real work in that sentence.

The Splurge Tier: High-End Gifts That Earn It (Verified Oct 27)

Most of this page is about saving money on tools a working dad buys himself. This section is different. This is the splurge tier: the gift you buy once and he uses for years, or the one the family goes in on together because the cheap version has already failed twice. One honesty note before the list: these are gift picks based on price checks and reputation, not hands-on reviews. We have not worn, carried, or cooked with these yet, so you get the verified price and what the maker says about it, not a verdict we did not earn.

How we checked this section

Same standard as the rest of the page: on October 27, 2026, we opened the retailer’s own product or category page, wrote down the sale price and the regular price, and did the math ourselves. One pick below needed two sources, and it is flagged where it appears: the retailer showed the sale price without a regular price, so we confirmed the regular price on the manufacturer’s own store page for the same model. If we could not see both numbers with our own eyes, the item went to the skipped list at the bottom, even when other sites were reporting a deal.

Watches

1. Garmin fenix 8 AMOLED GPS Smartwatch (47mm) — Scheels

  • Sale price: $699.99 | Regular price: $999.99 | You save $300.00 (30%)
  • The top of Garmin’s line: AMOLED screen, built-in flashlight, dive rating, full maps, and battery measured in weeks instead of hours. It is the watch for the dad who trains, hunts, hikes, or just wants one watch that survives the job site and still tracks his sleep after a night shift. Suits: the big family gift, or the dad buying his last smartwatch for a long while.
  • Source note, because our standard is both numbers on one page: Scheels lists this watch at $699.99 with no regular price printed next to it, so we confirmed the $999.99 list price on Garmin’s own store page for the 47mm AMOLED model. Check your exact size and lens option before ordering, because fenix 8 configurations vary. No end date was posted at either store when we checked.
  • Check it: Scheels | Garmin’s list price: Garmin

Boots

2. Oboz Sawtooth X Mid Waterproof Hiking Boots — REI

  • Sale price: $139.93 | Regular price: $200.00 | You save $60.07 (30%)
  • A real boot at a mid-tier price: waterproof, built for trails and long days on your feet, from a boot company that only makes footwear. Suits: the dad whose feet are his living, on shift, on the trail, and on the sideline. Also seen on the same REI page during our check: the Vasque St. Elias Waterproof boot at REI Outlet for $179.73 (regular $250.00, save $70.27, 28%), with the usual outlet warning that sizes go fast and do not come back. No end date was posted for either price when we checked.

Everyday carry

3. Olight Warrior Ultra Flashlight — Olight (brand direct)

  • Sale price: $83.99 | Regular price: $139.99 | You save $56.00 (40%)
  • The deepest honest cut in this section. A 2,500-lumen rechargeable light in Olight’s extra-tough OAL housing, small enough for a pocket and bright enough for the truck, the job site, and every power outage between now and forever. Suits: any dad, full stop. It is the stocking-level splurge that gets used weekly. Availability note: Olight’s page showed one Warrior Ultra variant sold out during our check, so confirm your color is in stock before you plan the gift around it. No end date was posted when we checked.

The cooler upgrade

4. RTIC Ultra-Tough Cooler, 65 QT — RTIC Outdoors (brand direct)

  • Sale price: from $242.10 | Regular price: $269.00 | You save $26.90 (10%)
  • Rotomolded, bear-tough, built to keep ice for days: the cooler that ends the cycle of buying a new cheap cooler every other summer. The 65 QT is the family size for ball tournaments, camping weekends, and a full cooler riding in the truck bed. Smaller budget, same build: the 45 QT Ultra-Tough is on the same sale at $203.15 (regular $239.00, save $35.85, 15%). Ten to fifteen percent is not a doorbuster, and we are listing it with that attached: it is a fair cut on gear that rarely gets cut at all. RTIC did not post an end date on the page we checked; deal trackers list this fall cooler sale as ending Oct 31, 2026, so do not sit on it if it is the gift.

The bottom line on the splurge tier

Four picks, every price checked on the seller’s own page on Oct 27, 2026, math in the open, and a skipped list longer than the pick list. That is what honest looks like at the high end too. If one of these is the family gift this year, buy the one he will still be using when the cheap version would have been replaced twice.

These Are NOT Deals

These failed the verification test on Oct 27, 2026. We are naming them because a deals page that only shows you wins is an ad, not a tool.

  • Amazon “cordless heated lunch box” listings showing a $109.99 list price. Tracked price history for the exact listing we checked shows it has actually sold between roughly $37 and $50 for most of 2026. A 60%+ “discount” off a price nobody pays is not a discount. The lunch box itself may be fine. The deal framing is not.
  • KEEN Utility Cincinnati work boots on Amazon, shown with a discount badge while priced at full list. The tracked listing showed the current price equal to the $209.95 list price, a savings of $0.00 wearing a sale tag. KEEN makes boots worth buying. That listing, at that price, is not a deal.
  • Tool Nut individual Milwaukee listings with a strikethrough “was” price identical to the current price (for example, a core bit shown as $104.00 struck through next to $104.00). No discount exists on those items themselves. Tool Nut’s real offer right now is the $20-off-$150 Milwaukee promo listed above, and that is the one we posted.

High-End Edition

  • Citizen Promaster Aqualand 200M dive watch at Citizen direct. Citizen’s own product page advertised “Save 20%, price as shown” on this model, but the actual price never rendered in our check, and an older snapshot of the same page showed a different percentage. A discount we cannot put an exact dollar figure on does not get printed here. The watch is a legitimate gift idea at whatever Citizen is actually charging today; check the page yourself.
  • Apple Watch Ultra 2 at Best Buy. Deal coverage elsewhere lists it at $699, but Best Buy’s own pages would not return current pricing through our access today; the only numbers we could pull were from a months-old snapshot. Months-old is not verified, so it is not posted.
  • Leatherman FREE K4X at Leatherman direct. Leatherman’s own page shows the K4X at $99.95 with no regular price next to it, while sale coverage elsewhere calls it 50% off. Fifty percent off what? We could not confirm the other number on Leatherman’s site, so the claimed discount is not posted. The tool itself has a 25-year warranty and a real following; just do not believe the percentage until Leatherman prints both numbers.
  • YETI coolers at YETI direct. YETI does not run public list-price sales, and yeti.com showed no sale pricing on Tundra coolers when we checked. The real YETI discount is its standing ID.me program for first responders, military, and similar groups, which is worth checking if he qualifies, but it is a program discount, not a Black Friday price, so it does not belong on a deals list.
  • Hamilton Khaki Field watches at Nordstrom. Great gift, no deal: Nordstrom listed every Khaki Field model we opened at full current price, from $795 to $1,345. Full price is full price, however nice the watch.
  • Ridge wallets at Ridge direct. Ridge.com showed its wallets at regular prices ($95 to $150) with no sale pair on the product pages. Coupon sites claim codes exist; an aggregator’s claim is not a verified price, so nothing is posted.
  • Traeger Ironwood and Woodridge grills at BBQGuys, and MEATER Pro at Traeger.com. Every Traeger grill configuration we opened at BBQGuys was out of stock, and a deal you cannot buy is not a deal. The MEATER Pro wireless thermometer showed a single $99.99 price at Traeger.com with no regular price beside it, so no savings figure could be verified. For grill money right now, the verified offers are the Weber and Napoleon deals in the main roundup above.

The bottom line

Eight deals, every one of them checked on the retailer’s own page on Oct 27, 2026, with the math done in the open. Three more got caught pretending. That ratio is the whole point of this page, and it is why we will re-check this list as Black Friday gets closer instead of letting it ride.

Second Shift Dad is a publication for dads on both shifts: the one at work, and the one at home. Deals coverage follows the same honesty rules as our reviews: nothing gets a verdict we did not check, and drawbacks get printed, not buried.
